About Childress Communications

Childress Communications, LLC can help you craft clear online communications that raise the quality of people’s lives and improve the planet’s health. We serve clients who share our mission, including nonprofits, government agencies, and related organizations.

Over the years, our work has furthered change in aging and prescription drug coverage for seniors, child support enforcement, civil rights, energy conservation, fair housing, literacy, and more.

We have produced projects for the National Council on Aging, My Medicare Matters, the Center for Healthy Aging, MAYA, the U.S. Department of the Navy, the U.S. Office of Child Support Enforcement, the U.S. Housing and Urban Development, AARP, and Literacy Volunteers of D.C.

Believing that readers connect best with straightforward, clear communications, we advocate for writing in plain language and in testing Web sites’ navigation and content with Web users.

If you want to share a message powerfully, we’ll work with you to form sound strategies–and unlock results.

About Donna Childress

Donna Childress is principal of Childress Communications, LLC. She got her first paycheck in grade school, when she wrote the company that owned the woods near her house, offering to clean the trash out of its creek and asking why the water looked oily on top. They sent her a note of thanks and a check for $25 in gratitude…or perhaps hush money.

Donna started her own business in 2001. With a focus on online communications, she provides both high-level strategy and writing. She has managed launches of Web sites and online communities, meeting with clients to outline site goals, determining site navigation, conducting user testing, editing content, and coordinating work of Web vendors. In addition, she writes Web content, newsletter articles, reports, and marketing communications and occasional stories for consumer magazines.

Donna has been writing for the Web since the mid 1990s, when she helped launch the first law firm Web site in Richmond, Va. Since then, she has served as a writer and Webmaster for Jaffe Associates and its national law firm clients, as well as an editor for highly targeted direct marketing e-mails for 9 million subscribers at LifeMinders, Inc.

She has an English degree from James Madison University.
